Last Saturday was just an ordinary Saturday for me, or so I thought.
I was up by around 6 in the morning and slowly prepared to go to my German class. Before going to class, I stopped by Jollibee to buy some breakfast. The class had already started but my friend (who was also my classmate since level 1.1) is still not in the room. Maybe I forgot that she isn’t coming in today, or she was just late. We had a lot of activities (which was a first). Usually, our class is a bit boring. Not much of interactions but this time the teacher stepped up a bit. She probably knows or feels that we’re getting bored by her teaching style
Anyways, before the break my friend came up to me. I asked if she wanted to go down and buy something at Mini Stop. Then she handed me this Starbucks paper bag, it was her birthday gift to me. I was surprised because we weren’t really that close but she still remembered my birthday and even gave me a gift. I was too shy to open it in front of her, so I just opened it when I got back home. She gave me a Starbucks tumbler (see image above), this is what I am using now at the office. That was surprise number 1
The second surprise almost made me cry. I just held back my tears because I didn’t want to cry in public. LOL! Anyways, some of my teammates back from high school and college met up for dinner at Gilligan’s ATC. Towards the end of the night, they all wanted to get some group pictures which I thought was normal. But then I can hear the band playing the birthday song but then the other table started clapping and singing so I thought the song was for the other table until the crew came to our table and sang and one of the waiters handed me a cake (see image above)
That Saturday wasn’t just an ordinary Saturday. It was a Saturday full of surprises
The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.
