Rainbows

Flash floods… earthquakes… tsunamis…

A lot of natural disasters have been happening lately. On March 11, Japan was struck by a magnitude 8.9 earthquake that was followed by a massive tsunami destroying everything in its way. Few weeks before, Christchurch was also struck by an earthquake. Before the devastating earthquakes, some parts of Australia got hit by cyclone Yasi which caused major floods especially in Queensland which was just trying to recover from last year’s flash floods.

I think man’s natural reaction to all of the events that has happened is to feel that the end of the world is near. I even read somewhere about people trying to link the 9/11 attack, Haiti and Japan earthquakes as signs that the end is near. How the dates sum up to 12/21/2012, which was supposedly the end of the world. Also pointing out a verse in the bible that more or less explains why these events are occurring. I’m not really a person who reads the bible, I only have little knowledge and remember a few passages either because it was taught in school or it touched me during Gospel readings. I think we are forgetting one important passage. This is the passage about God’s covenant to Noah, that the rainbow is God’s promise that never again will He destroy the earth. As an optimist, this is what I choose to believe in.

A lesson that I’m taking from all of this is to live each day as if it was my last. I think we should all do.

On this day, God wants you to know

… that there is no way to happiness, happiness is the way. Happiness does not come from seeking new landscapes, but from having new eyes on the same life you’ve always been living.
